On some orthodox medications one should use caution when supplementing with magnesium by taking the magnesium dose 2 hrs before the medication.
Some orthodox medications that may interact with magnesium include Bisphosphonates (Dosamax, Skelid, Didronel, Actonel), Quinolone antibiotics (Cipro, Ocuflox, Levaquin, Avelox, Tequin) and skeletal muscle relaxants (Tracrium, Mivacron, Nimbex, Raplon, Pavulon, Esmeron, Norcuron).
Patients on blood pressure medications such as calcium channel blockers should practice caution when supplementing with magnesium by regularly monitoring the blood pressure levels.
